Celebrating Two New Graduates

Two NISMED staff joined the ranks of recent graduates in 2025, successfully completing their graduate studies at their respective institutions.

Ms. Mosaso earns her M.S. in Science Education at the Ateneo de Manila University

Ms. Ronia Melecia R. Mosaso earned her Master of Science in Science Education at the Department of Biology, School of Science and Engineering, Ateneo de Manila University in June 2025. She was a recipient of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (DOST-SEI CBPSME) scholarship. Her thesis, titled “Distance Learning: An Assessment of Teacher Readiness, Acceptance and Implementation of a Printed Modular Approach of High School Science Instructors in Roxas, Palawan,” comprehensively examined high school teachers' readiness and acceptance regarding the implementation of printed modular distance learning as an alternative mode of science instruction.

Parts of her thesis were presented at the 5th International Congress on Action Research, Action Learning (ARAL 2021), the 5th International Conference on Educational Measurement and Evaluation (ICEME 2021), UP NISMED Knowledge Sharing Session, and the STEAM Research and Publication Writing School. During her time at the Ateneo, Ms. Mosaso actively served as their department's representative in the Ateneo Committee on Graduate Students' Concerns (CGSC) for two semesters.

Mr. Pelenio poses with his wife, Christell, and daughter, Luna

Also joining the roster of graduates is Mr. John Alfred C. Pelenio, who earned his Master of Arts in Education, major in General Science, at the UP Diliman College of Education in July 2025. His thesis was titled "Comparative Case Analysis of Science Teachers' and Students’ Experiences in Online Laboratory Activities: Bases for a Blended Learning Integration Model." In this study, he developed a modified design thinking framework intended to guide the integration of online learning activities into blended learning, with the aim of enhancing accessibility, continuity, and preparedness in science education during emergency situations.

His research was featured at the International Conference on STEM Education (ICSTEM) 2024 and the UP NISMED Knowledge Sharing Session on 5 December 2025. Reflecting on his commitment to education, Mr. Pelenio began his academic journey in August 2018. Notably, his first day of graduate school coincided with the birth of his daughter, Luna—a milestone that marked the beginning of a deeply meaningful path as both a scholar and a father.
