Mr. Carlo “Kaloy” M. Montillana celebrated 36 years of dedicated service to the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED) in a simple birthday-retirement program held at the UP NISMED Lounge on 5 June 2026.
Organized by the members of the Desktop and Printing Section, the event was attended by UP NISMED officials that included Dr. Monalisa T. Sasing, Deputy Director for Research and Extension; Ms. Cerilina M. Maramag, Deputy Director for Administration; and Ms. Angelie S. Domingo, Administrative Officer; as well as other invited guests.
During the program, colleagues shared messages recalling his professionalism, dedication, and significant role in supporting the institution’s printing operations through the years. Kaloy was awarded a plaque of appreciation and a photobook. He also received gifts from Dr. Sheryl Lyn C. Monterola, UP NISMED Director, the 2026 Socials Committee, and friends.
Kaloy started working at the Institute’s printing press in 1990. Determined to advance in his career, he pursued his studies while working until he became eligible for promotion and eventually received a permanent appointment at UP NISMED. In 2024, Kaloy was honored with the UP Diliman Puso Award (Inspirasyon at Husay Kagalingan) during the Parangal at Pagkilala para sa mga Kawani ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.
